Chin Augmentation in the Rancho Mirage and Palm Springs Area

A cosmetic chin augmentation is performed to improve the appearance of the jaw. Several people can benefit from a chin augmentation, including those with the appearance of naturally receding jawlines, and individuals who have very weak chins. A chin augmentation surgery augments the bony structure of the chin, creating a more permanent chin that is more proportionate to the rest of the facial profile. Dr. Sofonio offers chin augmentation to residents of Palm Springs and Rancho Mirage, CA.

Chin Augmentation Procedure

When you come in for a consultation, Dr. Sofonio will examine your face and check your medical records to determine if you are a good candidate for chin augmentation surgery. The result of your analysis will determine the type of implant Dr. Sofonio will use on your chin, and his choice of technique. He will make an incision either inside your mouth, or in an inconspicuous location under your jaw to allow him to insert the implant into the desired position. Generally, the entire procedure takes up to 45 minutes to complete.

Chin Augmentation Post-Treatment Care

Expect some swelling following your chin augmentation procedure. This is normal and will eventually subside. You may have to wear tape to hold the implant in place during the early stages after surgery since the chin implant can be shifted. Dr. Sofonio will give you post-operative care instructions tailored to your needs.
