Breast Augmentation

Commonly referred to as a “boob job,” breast augmentation, or mammoplasty, uses breast implants or a transfer of fat from one part of your body to another to enhance the size or fullness of your breasts. Whether you’re looking to restore lost volume after a weight loss or pregnancy, breast augmentation helps improve symmetry and self-confidence. Breast augmentation is usually an outpatient procedure without an overnight hospital stay. This surgery can be completed in less than two hours and involves incisions under your breasts, arms, or around your nipples. Beyond size, you’ll also need to determine your implant material (silicone or saline), which also determines your breast shape and firmness.

Breast Correction

Sometimes breast implants may shift or deflate, or you may notice a tightening of scar tissue around your implants. Breast correction is one of the most common types of breast enhancement surgeries we perform in Rancho Mirage. This type of surgery is used to correct the size or shape of one breast to match the other for more symmetrical breasts. It may also be used to correct a previous breast augmentation or reduction surgery that didn’t yield desirable results or to reconstruct breasts after a mastectomy.

Nipple Correction

If you have enlarged, small, protruding, or inverted nipples, a nipple correction surgery may be in order to achieve the breasts you desire. Sought after by thousands of women every year, nipple correction surgery is a relatively quick outpatient procedure not requiring an overnight hospital stay. There may be some slight swelling and bruising after and you’ll more than likely need to keep dressings over the area during your recovery.

Breast Lifts (Mastopexy)

A breast lift, or mastopexy, removes excess skin and tightens your surrounding tissue to reshape and support your breasts. Breast lifts are also commonly used to correct enlarged areolas. Whether your breasts have begun to sag due to aging, pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight fluctuations, a breast lift surgery can restore your self-confidence and a more youthful figure. Typically an outpatient procedure, a breast lift can be completed in less than three hours on average without an overnight hospital stay.

Breast Reductions

If your breasts seem too large for the rest of your body causing you discomfort or medical problems such as neck, shoulder, and backaches, a breast reduction surgery can help you remove excess breast fat, glandular tissue, or skin to reduce your breast size effectively. The average breast reduction surgery can take anywhere from 2-5 hours, though it can occasionally take longer than that. During this type of procedure, Dr. Sofonio will likely make an incision around your nipple and then downward along your breasts in the shape of a keyhole. You may need to wear a surgical bra and drainage tubes during recovery.
