Dr. Sofonio is a graduate of UCLA Medical School and continued his training with several residencies at the University of Hawaii and the Medical Colleg of Ohio. In the years that followed, he studied under some of the world's best aesthetic surgeons and completed several fellowships, one of which placed him in charge of the burn unit and care center at the Medical College of New York.

Sinice then, he has published and lectured extensively on aethetic surgery, and from 2002 through 2006, he served as the Section Cheif of Plastic Surgery at Eisenhower Medical Center. Dr sofonio has been named one of the region's best plastic surgeons for two years in a row by New York based Castle Connolly Medical Ltd., an independent firm commisioned by Palm Springs Life Magazine. Dr sofonio is twice certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery and is a member of serveral of his feild's most prestigious prefessional organizations.
