Cheek Augmentation is a safe procedure that can significantly alter the symmetry of the face.  The cheeks provide balance and harmony to the face.  As the skin begins to age, the cheeks begin to reflect that aging process more than any other areas on the face.  Cheek augmentation helps to enhance and improve face counters which result in a more youthful look.  Clients report they look and feel younger and healthier.  This procedure is also used for correcting a deficient cheek area due to congenital deficiency, age-related bone re-absorption or facial trauma.  Cheek augmentation can restore a weak cheek structure, correcting a face that appears drawn and gaunt.

The foundation of the cheek is the zygomatic bone which is a paired bone of the human skull.  It forms part of the orbit of the eye socket and is commonly referred to as the cheekbone. It is situated at the upper and lateral part of the face.  It forms the prominence of the cheek, part of the lateral wall and floor of the orbit, as well as parts of the temporal and infratemporal fossae.

Cheek augmentation surgery usually takes about 30 to 45 minutes. Clients often chose to have cheek implants in conjunction with another cosmetic procedure, such as a facelift, forehead lift or eyelid surgery.  The implants may be inserted through the incisions made for those procedures. Otherwise, an incision will be made either inside your upper lip or your lower eyelid. A pocket is then formed and an implant is inserted.

After cheek augmentation surgery, a dressing will be applied to minimize discomfort and swelling. The severity and duration of such side effects may vary, especially if another cosmetic procedure was performed along with the cheek augmentation.
